JOB GOAL:       To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to             

                         their educational and social development.

                           

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Follows all rules, policies and procedures of Clinton City Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.           
  1. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and is compatible with the school district and state guidelines.               
  1. Teaches assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.            
  1. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. 
  1. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. 
  1. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved, as well as instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting              stated objectives. 
  1. Evaluates student academic and behavioral progress, keeps appropriate  records and prepares progress reports 
  1. Diagnoses students’ needs on a regular basis and cooperates with other professional staff members at the school and county level in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.                 
  1. Counsels with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis through conferences and other means to discuss the student’s academic and behavioral progress and interprets school programs. 
  1. Translates lesson plan into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.  
  1. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just    manner through consistent and effective monitoring and circulation throughout the classroom and other educational settings.  
  1. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and evaluates their job performance.          
  1. Makes detailed lesson plans for the Substitute Teacher to follow whenever it is known that sick or personal leave has to be taken. 
  1. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.         
  1. Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.          
  1. Maintains accurate up-to-date attendance records for all students.                
  1. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday. 
  1. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the required testing program.         
  1. Provides for personal, professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, attending county and state sponsored workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning. 
  1. Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees and carries out non-instructional duties as required or assigned.      
  1. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required by the Principal.

Terms of Employment: Ten month work year/FLSA Exempt

 

Starting Salary and/or Grade: Salary based on state salary scale/state certificate

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of  

                    the Board, local and state policy on evaluation of teachers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up
to 20 pounds of force.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees in this position are required to work  indoor and
outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with OCS staff,
students and the public.
